Not
in easy words, O God, but in selfless deeds
is the faith we profess made real
and our love made present.
Give us the strength
to take up the cross
losing our lives for the sake of gospel of Jesus,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
AMEN.

Not
by power and popularity, O God,
but in suffering and self-sacrifice
did Jesus show us the cost
of discipleship.
As disciples of
Jesus
may we learn how to deny ourselves,
take up our cross
and follow in his footsteps.
We ask this through
the same Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
AMEN.

PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL
P God
is gracious, just and compassionate.
Let us now bring our needs and concerns before him.
With
confidence we pray:
CM Lord, listen to your
people.
(Please repeat)
- That
the hungry and homeless may find in the hearts of Christians a faith
that shows itself in practical care and concern for their needs.
We pray:
- For
the old, the lonely and the sick of our community; (pause)
may they embrace their cross willingly
and offer up their sufferings with thse of Jesus.
we pray:
- For
those who, like the Servant of God, suffer insult and persecution
for their faith: that the Lord will uphold them in their suffering.
we pray:
- For
those who are forced to live apart from their families because they
are OFWs or because of war or civil disobedience.
We pray:
- For
those who have no faith, for those whose lives have no meaning;
for the depressed and those in despair. (pause)
We pray:
[The
Presider may add a Petition that is local / relevant]
P Lord,
teach us to serve you as you deserve;
to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wounds,
to labor and not to ask for any
reward
except that of knowing that we do
your will.
We ask this through Christ, our
Lord. AMEN.
Prayer
over the Gifts
Lord
God,
accept the sacrifice of our lives,
that with your Son Jesus,
we may die to sin
and rise to new life.
Grant this through the same Christ our Lord. AMEN.
Invitation
to the Lord’s Prayer
With Jesus Christ,
the Son of the living God,
we have the courage to say:
Our Father ..
Deliver
us Lord
Deliver
us, Lord, from every evil,
and from loving our life so much
that we may be in danger of losing it.
Protect us from all anxiety in the face of suffering
as we work in hope
for the coming in glory
of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Prayer
for Peace
Lord,
Jesus Christ, you said to your disciples:
"If any want to be my followers,
let them deny themselves
and take up their cross
and follow me."
Forgive us for wanting an easy religion,
without any demands,
without any cost to ourselves.
Grant us the peace of your kingdom
where you live for ever and ever. AMEN
Exchange of Peace
Jesus has made our peace by his death on the cross.
Let us now greet each other in that peace.
Optional
Prayer to accompany the ‘Breaking of Bread’
P
Father, as we break this bread,
we remember
the night
when your Son
passed from pain into
your loving
hands.
And when we
eat this bread and drink this cup,
we proclaim
his death until he comes in glory
A LAMB OF GOD.....

This is the Lamb
of God
who suffered and died for us.
He is risen from the dead
and invites us to share this meal with him.
Lord,
I am not worthy…
Prayer

Lord
God,
you have nourished us with the bread of life.
Send us out into the world
to bear one another's burdens
and share each other's joys.
May we take up our cross
and follow Jesus on the road that leads to life and glory.
All this we ask through the same Christ our Lord. AMEN.
Solemn
Blessing
May
you be selfless and joyful in serving others despite trials and difficulties. AMEN.
You believe that
by his dying on the cross, Jesus destroyed death forever. May he give
you everlasting life. AMEN.
He humbled himself
for our sakes.
May you follow his example and live a life of service. AMEN.
And may the blessings of our loving God,
+ Father, Son and Spirit,
come down upon you and remain with you for ever. AMEN.
