The Sharing

Here we deal with the experiences and problems and misinformation that people may have. It is not a therapy session though some problems may be shared. It is a time for sharing one's experience in the effort to meditate. Hearing the struggles of others we get the encouragement to "keep on keeping on," as John Main liked to say.

We get over the two big problems of meditators:
1. the obsession with success judged by absence of distractions;
2. the desire for extraordinary religious experience.

It is often hard to find a good spiritual director, especially one who is understanding of silent prayer. Often there is a lot of spiritual direction done in a group. The sharing with the groups helps one to appreciate one's own experience and the group will often restore balance to the individual when needed.

Sundays into Silence

A Pathway to Life

by Gerry Pierse, cssr

“The best word I can find to describe this book is integration. In these reflections on the gospel readings for year A, B, and C of the liturgical cycle, Fr. Pierse integrates the richness of the word of God with experiences and stories from life in the community. He shows how through silence, the word can bear fruit in service and sacrament.” (R. J. Cardinal Vidal)
