WORLD MISSION SUNDAY

Sign of the Cross

Greeting

Option A
Blessed be God our Father who hears the cry of the poor.
May the Spirit of love and compassion be with you all.

Option B Mission Sunday
Blessed be God our Father who hears the cry of the poor.
May his Spirit of love and compassion be with you all.

Introduction and Litany of Praise

Option A
Prayer and faith are very closely connected.
It's because we have faith that we pray; and it's prayer that sustains our
faith. At times we may feel that God is slow to answer our prayer.
But let us persevere - God does listen.

Option B Mission Sunday
Today's celebration of Mission Sunday concerns all of us,
for mission is the task given to all.
The whole church is mission.
We want all peoples to know God
and to know Jesus -
the one whom he has sent to be our Savior. [pause]

Lord Jesus,
you wish all people to be saved
and come to the knowledge of the truth.
Lord, have mercy.

Christ Jesus,
you have made us a light to shine on all nations:
Christ, have mercy.

Lord Jesus,
you command your disciples to preach the Good News of God's love
to the ends of the earth:
Lord, have mercy.

Option C
With arms outstretched between heaven and earth, Jesus died
interceding for us with his Father. Our prayers must be unceasing and
persistent, as Jesus himself still intercedes for us with the Father.

Lord Jesus, you want all people to know the sacred Scriptures:
Lord, have mercy.

Christ Jesus, you wish to see justice done to the widows and orphans of this world:
Christ, have mercy.

Lord Jesus, you tell us to pray always and never lose heart:
Lord, have mercy.

Opening Prayer

Option A
O God,
through the hands of your servant Moses, uplifted in prayer,
you gave victory to your chosen people.
Look upon the church gathered in prayer.
Grant that we may never grow weary
as we await the coming of that hour
when you will grant justice to your people
who cry out to you day and night.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever. AMEN.

Option B Mission Sunday
You have made your Church, O God,
the sacrament of salvation for all peoples,
that the saving work of Christ
may continue until the end of time.
Stir up in the hearts of the faithful a realization
that they are called to work for the salvation
of the whole human family.
We make our prayer through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever. AMEN.

GENERAL INTERCESSIONS

P        Jesus told his disciples about the need to pray continually and never
become discouraged. In obedience to his instruction let us pray now for our own needs,
the needs of the Church, and those of the world.

            Let our response be:

CM     Lord, may all peoples praise you.

(Please repeat)

May World Mission Sunday heighten in us the awareness that, by our baptism,
we are commissioned by Christ to share the gift of our faith with others. We pray:

May all our Filipino missionaries abroad….
Religious, Priests, Lay, and especially the millions of OCWs;
may they appreciate the enormous value of their contribution to the Mission of
the Church. We pray:

May the Holy Spirit stir up priest, sister and lay missionary vocations among
the young especially from within our Parish. We pray:

For all of us: [pause]
that we may be open to the message of the Scriptures, ready to listen and to learn. We pray:

For widows, widowers, single parents and all who experience loneliness: [pause]
that the Lord will fill their lives with his loving presence and care. We pray:

[The Presider may add a Petition that is local / relevant]

P   Grant that what we have said with our lips,
we may believe in our hearts, and practice in our lives.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. AMEN.

Prayer over the Gifts

Lord, look upon the face of Christ your Son,
who gave himself up as a ransom for all,
so that from the rising of the sun to its setting
your name may be great among the nations
and one sacrifice may be offered to your glory.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.

Introduction to the Lord's Prayer

Jesus urges us to pray unceasingly.
Now let us sing / recite the prayer that he taught us.

Deliver us Lord

Deliver us, Lord, from every evil,
and grant us the peace that flows from justice.
Help us to pay special attention to the victims of injustice
and bring them fresh hope
as we prepare for the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Rite of Peace

Lord Jesus, you said to your disciples:
"Ask, and it will be given you;,
search, and you will find;
knock, and the door will be opened for you."
Look not on our sins,
but on the faith of your Church,
and grant us the peace and unity of your kingdom
where you live for ever and ever.

The peace of the Lord be always with you.

Sign of Peace
'Blessed are the peacemakers:
they shall be called children of God'.
We meet in the name of Christ and share his peace.

Optional Prayer to accompany the ‘Breaking of Bread’

On a hillside in Galilee,
Jesus took bread, blessed it, broke it,
and gave it to his followers.
We, in like manner,
break the bread of the Lord
as a sign of our desire
to share in the Father's heavenly banquet.

Lamb of God

Invitation to Communion

This is Jesus
who urges us to pray always and not to lose heart.
He now invites us to receive him at this altar-table.

Lord, I am not worthy…

Prayer after Communion

Option A
God, the Sustainer of life,
you have refreshed us in this holy meal.
Help us to strengthen the weary,
give hope to the discouraged,
walk with the weak and the poor,
and lift up, with the gentleness of Jesus,
those who need comfort and care.
This we ask in the name of the same Christ our Lord.  AMEN.

Option B Mission Sunday
God our father,
with Jesus we have raised our hands to you in prayer.
Let our sharing at this table
renew our commitment to serve the Gospel.
Bless the missionary work of the church
so that in our country and throughout the world
your name may b glorified.
this we ask through Christ our Lord.  AMEN.

Solemn Blessing

May the Lord protect you always and free you from every evil. AMEN.

May God inspire you to proclaim and witness to your faith. AMEN.

May God bless your efforts to spread the Gospel of Jesus. AMEN.

And may the blessing of God,
+ the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
come down upon you and remain with you for ever.
AMEN.
